raffle to benefit the Black Lives Matter Global Network

The garland raffle has closed. Below is the post that I wrote on my social media pages today.

You are amazing human beings and I love you all. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who purchased tickets for the drawing. You raised $540 dollars for the Black Lives Matter global network! I added my contribution to yours, and was absolutely overjoyed to be able to make this donation today. Thank you, each and every one of you. The winner of the garland drawing is Elizabeth from CT. I just sent you an email, Elizabeth. I’m looking forward to making you a beautiful garland.

This felt really great to give money, but there’s endless more to do. I spent some time last night signing petitions, and a few minutes this morning making an important phone call. If you feel moved by these actions, they’re very simple.

There are several petitions calling for the arrest of the police officers involved in the shooting death of Breonna Taylor. Today would have been Breonna’s 27th birthday. You can find the petitions through the organizations / petition names listed below. Please take a few minutes to add your name.

• change.org / Justice for Breonna Taylor

• colorsofchange.org / Police officers who killed Breonna Taylor must be FIRED

• standwithbre.com

I know phone calls to elected officials make a lot of people nervous (me included), but oftentimes you’re asked to leave a message – or you speak with a staffer at the office of the person you’re calling. The more we do it, the better we get at it. Have a note jotted down so you know what you’d like to say. In this case, give Kentucky Attorney General, Daniel Cameron a call : 502-696-5300. State your name, where you’re from, and ask for justice for Breonna. Tell him that you want the officers responsible for her death to be arrested immediately. The more voices they hear, the better chance they'll listen.
